The short version: Symbiote works without an account. We do not require your email address or other personal information to use the app. Email is only needed if you choose optional cloud sync.

Using Symbiote without an account
You can use Symbiote without creating an account or providing an email address. In this mode, your program, workout log, training preferences, and any bodyweight value you choose to enter are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers unless you turn on sync.
Optional email sync
If you choose to sync your training across devices, we ask for your email address. We use a one-time code sent to that address to verify your sign-in; Symbiote does not require a password.
When sync is enabled, we store the following information on our servers so the feature can work:
- Your email address and account identifier;
- Your selected program and training preferences, such as measurement units and rest-timer settings;
- Your workout records, including exercises, sets, repetitions, load, notes, session dates, and progress data;
- Any bodyweight value you choose to enter, which is used for training calculations;
- A device identifier, IP address, user-agent information, and session/security information used to operate and protect sign-in and sync.
Why we use this information
We use synced information only to provide and secure the sync service, keep your training data available across your devices, respond to support requests, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your workout data for advertising or build advertising profiles from it.
Sharing and service providers
We do not share your information with advertisers. Information may be processed by service providers that help us deliver the app’s email, hosting, database, and security services, only as needed to provide those services. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the security of the app and its users.
Data retention and deletion
Local data remains on your device until you clear it or uninstall the app. You can export your workout log and clear local training data in the app’s Training data section.
Synced data is retained while your sync account is active. To request deletion of your sync account and associated server-side workout data, email [email protected] from the email address associated with the account. We may retain limited information where necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, or to resolve disputes.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
Symbiote is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can address the request.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or applicable requirements change. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date.
